The Concord Campus is partnering with Cal State East Bay’s Associated Students, Inc. to develop a fitness park for students, faculty and staff. The park, which will be located next to the Art Lab, will consist of 6 exercise elements on a rubberized mat. The elements, manufactured by NSP 3, are designed for self-paced workouts for adults aged 14-100, as well as university sponsored programming. Development plans are already underway, and construction is slated to begin sometime in the spring.
If the park proves popular, expansion plans may include additional elements situated in a variety of locations, transforming the park into the head of a campus wide trail, as well as a set of showers in the Campus Union.
The park is part of a plan to bring more physical fitness opportunities to the Concord Campus community. The campus currently offers weekly Zumba classes to staff, faculty and students with plans to add Yoga and other exercise classes in the near future.
